Curation, Creative Production
A Midsummer’s Eve with the Camberwell Collective was a self-initiated 2-week exhibition showcasing new work by 10 young emerging artists. I was the curator for the show, selected all artists and performers, orchestrated installation, and ensured the smooth-running of the event.
Highlights included: ‘Proximity’ a site-specific performance by Léa Collet which took over 1 of the gigantic halls of V22 – located in the F block of the old Peek Freans Biscuit Factory – mixing movement, sound, and video with 8 professional/amateur dancers. Also, a classical Indian music workshop by singer-songwriter and Sarangi player Amrit Kaur Lohia.
The show presented the collective’s departure from its roots in photography toward new explorations into: moving image, sound, dance, sculpture, cyanotypes, screen-printing, and camera obscura. The opening event also included a program of live music. It took place at V22, an art space in Bermondsey, in South London as part of their Summer Club.
